I want to live forever, dancing like I never fractured my elbow or injured my shoulder, thrown out my back, or gotten older, or broken my ankle and just be thankful that I can move and groove in my living room. Building up the energy I'll be giving soon. Putting on the songs that build me up, and fill my cup. Starting to work up a sweat, and struggling to catch my breath. There's no need to talk anyway. Just going to dance my cares away. Working on some new moves that no one has seen before. They work a little differently on a carpet floor, so I start to cook in the kitchen. To the hook I will listen, and sing along in my head, forgetting about bills and the things that I dread. Every ounce of sweat is another stress released, so I speed up the beat and pick up my feet. It's been so long since I've been off work, but I'm going out tonight to give it all I'm worth, because I'm here to play, and I'm here to stay. I won't let life lead me astray. Going out alone into the unknown, hoping some friends will be in attendance. Looking for a new form of transendance. Feeling really good about the money I'm spending because I'm supporting the arts and supporting some dreams. Being a part of the local scene. I look around for familiar eyes, as I try to familiarize myself with my surroundings. What I see is astounding. A couple truly in love and beauty above as I see everyone on stage looking like family. Elevated, celebrated, and yes we've made it.

Even though I don't know anyone I see, their eyes all show that they accept me, so I continue to move as the music grooves, and I'm hoping for my favorite tune, and I hope they play it soon. But I'll stay until the music fades away, thankful for the friends I've made today. It's not quiet yet, except in my mind. Embracing this moment in time, I look up and find a face I haven't seen in awhile. But that smile makes me feel like we've never been part. That's why this isn't the start. It's a continuous journey with some sinuous curves we get to experience as I dance for my life.
